Night vision technology for Indian Army's T-90 tank now private company too, DRDO's decision Mar 1st 2022, 08:05, by Hindustan News Hub New Delhi: In order to promote the indigenous defense industry, work is being done in many ways in India. DRDO, which comes under the Ministry of Defense, has transferred the technology of night sight (comfortable viewing even at night) for T-90 tank to Kanpur based defense company MKU. This is the first private company to which DRDO has transferred this technology. The Indian Army currently has more than 2000 T-90 Bhishma tanks, more than 120 Arjun tanks and around 2400 T-72 tanks. T-90 is the main battle tank of the Indian Army. According to MKU director Vaibhav Gupta, MKU was keen to work closely with DRDO to build a driver night sight for T-90 tanks in India. The aim is to develop a device that can fit the T-90 as well as other T-series tanks, BMPs (infantry fighting vehicles) and other armored vehicles. Night Sight Netro TD 5100 will reduce the risk of the army. With the improvement of Night Sight, the strength of the soldier sitting in the tank will also increase.
Having a night sight in the battle tank of the Indian Army will also help in operating the tank in a better way as well as keep an accurate eye on the surrounding area. The lack of such sensors in the tank has caused many problems for the tank commander and operator during night operations. With the tank getting Night Sight, the detection range of the tank will also increase as well as it will be able to move at higher speed. , The post Night vision technology for Indian Army's T-90 tank now private company too, DRDO's decision appeared first on Hindustan News Hub. |
